Blurify documentation

Blurify is a motion blur plugin for DaVinci Resolve focused purely on high fidelity, cinematic motion blur.

How it works

Blurify does not fake blur with a directional smear. It slows your footage down, for example to eight times slower, then uses motion vectors to interpolate the gaps, generating new in between frames that never existed in the original clip.

Those generated frames are then blended together into a single frame, and the footage is sped back up to its normal rate. The result is that the blur comes from time, the way a real camera produces it while the shutter is open, rather than from a filter smearing pixels sideways.

That is also where the cost comes from: every rendered frame requires the vectors and all of the in between frames to be calculated first. Raising the Quality setting generates more in between frames, which looks better and takes longer to render. It is a direct trade, and it is why Blurify is built for final renders rather than for scrubbing a timeline.

A real camera has effectively infinite frames between the shutter opening and closing, so everything moving in that window blurs smoothly. Blurify cannot generate infinite frames, so on extremely fast motion you may see the classic computer motion blur stepping, where the blur reads as a series of copies rather than one continuous streak. More quality reduces it; nothing removes it completely.

Blurify blurs every movement, with no exception. If you apply it to blur fast motion, it will also act on the small things: animated film grain, jitter and handheld shake can come out looking softened, and footage that flickers may have that flicker reduced. That is the effect working as designed, not a bug, so apply it where you want everything in motion to blur.

Key facts

DaVinci Resolve
DaVinci Resolve 19.1 to 21.0. Works on free and Studio.
Pricing
Blurify is a one time purchase of $9.90 with no subscription.
How you get it
You can download it from your library at sh4rkk.com/library after logging in with the email tied to your order. If you prefer not to log in, a download page appears right after checkout where you enter the email you used and download the product instantly.
Updates
Updates are free. To update, simply download the latest version again and reinstall it.
License
There is no license key and no online activation. The product is just files you install, so there is no machine limit and nothing that can deactivate.
Performance
Blurify is built for final render quality, not live playback. It generates real interpolated frames, which is heavy by design, so renders are slow compared to vector smear tools like RSMB. Preview at lower settings, then raise them for the final render.
Support
Support is handled on the Paradise Community Discord. Replies usually come within an hour or two, and at most within 8 hours.

Notes

Using it

Blurify is a heavy, resource intensive tool, so it is recommended to apply it as a final step before rendering. To prevent it from blending cuts together: create a timeline with your selected footage, use Timeline -> Detect Scene Cuts, add an adjustment clip over your footage, apply Blurify to it, and cut the adjustment clip at every scene cut so the motion blur is calculated independently for each shot.

Moving from free to paid

If you build a project using the free version and later upgrade to the paid version, in most cases you will need to redo that work in the paid version.

If something goes wrong

If it does not show up after installing, double check the installation method and try the manual installation steps. If it still does not appear, contact sh4rk on Discord or by email.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. Blurify is a heavy, resource intensive tool focused purely on high fidelity visual output. We recommend applying it as a final step before rendering.

If you have very small objects moving at extreme speeds (e.g., motion graphics), tracking may not be perfect. The tool is optimized for cinematic footage and realistic movement.

Create a timeline with your selected footage. Select Timeline Detect Scene Cuts. Add an adjustment clip over your footage and apply Blurify to it. Cut the adjustment clip at every scene cut to ensure the motion blur is calculated independently for each shot.

Yes, Blurify is 100% supported on the Free version of DaVinci Resolve.

Yes, the tool functions correctly on both the Fusion and Edit pages.

That is Blurify.
